The police in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh arrested a junior teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School Namsai on charges of misappropriating school funds to the tune of Rs 20 lakhs.

KK Singh, a junior teacher, was found to embezzle the school fund while working as the cashier in-charge of the school.

Singh was arrested following an FIR filed by school principal Chow T Moungkang who discovered the misappropriation when a school bill was rejected by the treasury department.
Reports said that Singh forged the school principal’s signature and has been withdrawing the money from the school funds since April 2016. This was revealed through an internal inquiry before the FIR was lodged.

Police officer in-charge Lod Tari said though Singh had admitted his crime but he couldn’t tell the exact amount he had withdrawn so far. The OC said that investigation is underway and the exact amount could be more than Rs 20 lakhs.
