Eleven people were injured after an explosion ripped through the coach of a train in Assam’s Udalguri district on Saturday evening.
The blast occurred in the Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express near the Harisinga railway station at around 7 pm. A Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson said that railway and police personnel rushed to the site as soon as they were informed about the incident.
“It is yet to be confirmed if the blast was caused due to an explosive or an electrical short-circuit. There have been no casualties,” news agency ANI quoted NFR public relations officer Nripen Bhattacharya as saying.
The police are yet to confirm the nature of the blast.
The train has remained stranded at Harisinga which has caused inconvenience to the commuters. Several top officials have rushed to the spot.
