Arunachal Pradesh on June 1 witnessed a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases. The state reported 18 new cases during the day, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 22.

Among the 18 new cases detected on June 1, a maximum of 16 cases were reported from Changlang district. They recently returned to the state from Haryana.

Also, one patient each from Namsai and Tawang districts were found COVID-19 positive on June 1. The Namsai patient returned from Chennai while the Tawang patient returned from Delhi recently.

A bulletin from the state Health department on June 1 stated that all the patients are asymptomatic and will be managed in COVID Care Center. “All were kept in facility quarantine as per SOP for persons returning to the state,” the bulletin signed by Dr L Jampa, State Surveillance Officer-IDSPs, said.

With the detection of these cases, the total number of active patients in the state went up to 21. The other positive cases are from Pakke Kessang, Capital Complex and Upper Siang districts.

The first COVID-19 patient was released from the hospital in Tezu after he recovered from the disease on April 17.

The Health department bulletin on June 1 added that the state is still in the Green Zone.

Till June 1, as many as 8767 samples were collected from the state out of which 7460 came out negative. Results of 1214 tests are still awaited.
