With a day to go for voting in the first phase of the Assam Assembly elections, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) – which calls itself a political startup – is using innovative and eye-ball grabbing forms of campaigning like flash mobs.

Contesting the polls from East Guwahati and Jorhat seats, LDP president and former BJP national executive member Pradyut Bora is leaving no stone unturned to stage an upset for the biggies – BJP and the Congress. LDP, which is barely a year old, is contesting the assembly elections and its president Pradyut Bora is battling from his home town in an attempt to make his maiden entry to the state assembly.

Inspired by Aam Aadmi Party’s unique campaign style, LDP has formed a dance troop who performs flash dances on the streets of Jorhat.

“I was very surprised when I saw Kejriwal’s AAM Aadmi party workers branded a dance troop called ‘dance for democracy’ during the Delhi Assembly elections. I liked the idea and hence in this election we are also using the same,” the LDP chief said. Bora further pointed out that a new party can’t afford the conventional methods of campaigning.

“What BJP and Congress are doing is conventional warfare. They are bombarding everywhere with advertisements. We don’t have the budget to match that. So we are using innovative techniques of campaigning,” Bora added.
