According to three major opinion polls conducted by various agencies in the state before the Assembly polls, the verdict to be out on May 19 will be divided honours between the top political parties. While the India TV C-Voter survey has predicted a hung house with BJP, BPF and AGP emerging as single-largest coalition with 55 seats, the Congress is set to get 53 seats according to the opinion poll. Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) will manage to get 12 seats and 6 would be taken by others.

India TV C-Voter did a similar poll in January where it predicted 57 seats for BJP+ and 44 seats for the Congress. In January, the opinion poll gave 19 seats to the AIUDF. The latest poll was conducted in the fourth week of March according to C-Voter, a release said.

An opinion poll conducted AVC also predicts a badly-hung Assembly in Assam. It predicts 48-54 seats for the BJP-AGP alliance, 40 seats for the Congress and 25 seats for the AUDF in the state. In the last elections the Congress had won 78 seats and AIUDF, 18.

But according to ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll, the BJP–AGP alliance is set to form the next government in the Northeastern state as the alliance is expected to register a clear victory. The opinion poll predicts 78 seats out of 126 for the BJP-AGP alliance with 44% vote share. It says the ruling Congress could end up with just 36 seats and may get 34% votes. The AIUDF could get 10 seats with 11% votes. The others are expected to win just 2 seats with 11% votes.
