Strong winds gushed through Shillong on Tuesday afternoon leaving life out of gear in many areas. Moderate to severe destruction of property was reported in many areas as electricity supply was snapped following the speedy wind.
As many as 30 houses including a school were damaged when a cyclonic wind accompanied by heavy downpour struck parts of the city on Tuesday at around 2 pm.
The cyclonic wind left behind a trail of destruction in several parts of the city—Nongmynsong, Pynthorumkhrah, Umpling, Nongrah, Golflink area, Mawlynrei and others, a The Northeast Today report said.
