Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal paying floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal vowed to set up skill development centres in all blocks of Assam to give boost to youth empowerment in line with Swami Vivekananda’s dream of harnessing youth power for a strong and powerful nation.

Declaring this at a function to commemorate the 154th birthday of Swami Vivekananda at Nagaon on Thursday, Sonowal said that the proposed skill development centres will be catalyst for channelizing youth power for constructive purposes which will be a fitting tribute to a man who projected the cultural and spiritual idiosyncrasy of India at the international fora on an impressive and strong note. He said, “Following the ideals of Swamiji in letter and spirit we can reinforce the position of India as a country whose spiritual and cultural ethos are unparallel”.

 

Sonowal said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a mission for everybody to make India a world leader and by following the teachings of Swami Vivekananda we can reach the mission emphatically. Today is National Youth Day, a day dedicated to acknowledge and reinforce the indomitable power of our youths who by following the path shown by Swamiji can make a significant contribution in nation building”. To give youth power a chance Sonowal also announced to set up separate Department for skill development.

Sonowal however, called upon the youths of the state to work on a mission mode to strengthen the harmony and amity to make Assam a stronger state. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet programmes of Make in India, Skill India, Start up India, Digital India, Sonowal said that all the programmes have been conceived and designed to make the youths of the nation strong. He also urged the youths of the country to work sincerely and honestly to reach their avowed mission of life.

Giving a call to appreciate the Centre’s oneline objective of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’, Sonowal called upon the people of Assam to forget all artificial differences and work together cutting across all caste,  creed and ethnicity to make Assam an example homogenous and equitable development.

Sonowal also outlined the need of scientific approach for harnessing abundant resources of Assam and make the State a glittering example of development which should take place in perfect harmony with nature.

Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on strong body, mind and soul, Sonowal said that a clean environment gives rise to strong body, mind and soul and asked everybody to accord importance to Swachhata Abhiyan and resort to yoga and be a proud possessor of perfect combination of body, mind and soul.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to ensure security and development for all, Sonowal also called upon youths to take a pledge to lead their lives following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and build a strong and resilient Assam.
