The 14th convocation of Tezpur University will be held on April 7 to confer degrees and diplomas upon the students who passed out in 2016. Professor Goverdhan Mehta, former vice-chancellor, University of Hyderabad and a lead researcher in the area of chemical science & organic chemistry, will be the chief guest and will deliver the convocation address.

Assam governor and chancellor of the University, Banwarilal Purohit, will preside over the convocation ceremony and award the degrees, diplomas and medals to the students at the community hall of the University. Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam education, finance, health & family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the programme as guests of honour.

The 14th convocation of the University will confer master’s degrees to 618, bachelor’s degrees to 251, and diplomas to 31 eligible students. In addition, 56 scholars will receive PhD degrees and 28 toppers will be honored with gold medals.

The ‘T&I Best Post Graduate Award’ and ‘Best Graduate Award’ along with ‘Polymer Science Award’ will also be conferred during the event.
