The second season of Hinglish stand up comedy show ‘The Funny Rascals’ in Guwahati turned out to be a wonderful evening filled with sounds of laughter as noted comedians Abhishek Upmanyu, Manik Mahna and Sonali Thakker tickled the funny bones of the house packed audience at ITA, Machkhowa on Sunday.

The comedy show, in its second year, was organized by Guwahati Round Table 235 under the banner of Round Table India as a charity fund-raising event to raise funds to build classrooms and school infrastructure at Shankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan in Dadara (near Hajo).

The show created huge interest as it witnessed a record audience. Chairman, Guwahati Round Table 235, Parveen Goyal said, “We are thankful for the wonderful response. The laughter evoked by this comedy show will spread smiles to those 500 under-privileged students at Dadara by giving them an opportunity to go to a school with a better learning environment and infrastructure.”

“The proceeds from this show will help us undertake the Phase 3 of the Shankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan, Dadara” he added.

Overwhelmed with the crowd response, comedian Abhishek Upmanyu said, “This is the first time I have performed at Guwahati. The response was overwhelming. We hope that this initiative by Round Table India starts a stand up culture in this city. The show was for a wonderful cause of building schools for under-privileged children and to be part of the show is immensely satisfying.”

“We believe that education is every child’s right and we support Round Table India’s Freedom Through Education movement under which we they are making schools for the underprivileged,” said Praveen Sarawgi from Stones India, the title sponsor of the programme.
