The Assam finance department has released an amount of Rs 50 crore, in advance, to the revenue & disaster management department for taking up flood relief measures in the state.

The state is already witnessing flood situations with several thousands being affected. The Assam Disaster Management Authority on June 8 reported that the department has set up 74 relief distributions points in Karimganj district.

The finance department has also released an amount of Rs 8.55 crore to the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) as Grants-in-Aid to meet up salary and other establishment expenditures.
