Union minister of state for human resource development Mahendra Nath Pandey on June 6 visited the Tezpur University and interacted with faculty and students. The Union minister took stock of academic and other activities carried out by the students, research scholars and faculty members of the university.

Expressed satisfaction over the holistic approach of the university in the development of students, the minister said that inculcating a sense of responsibility in the students towards the society at large is a major step towards quality education. Pandey also appreciated the university’s initiatives in keeping the campus green and clean.

The Union minister mentioned the national and international recognitions such as the “Best University” Award 2016 of the Visitor (President of India) and the 34th Rank in the Times Higher Education World Young University Ranking 2017. He hoped that the university would be one of the top counted universities of the world in the near future.

“The outreach programmes would go a long way as examples of meaningful contributions of educational institutions towards the development of the country,” the minister said.

The officials of the university brought to the notice of the minister of the acute shortage of fund received by the university to which the minister assured that he would take up the matter to UGC for consideration.
