At least 14 people are feared dead as a massive landslide triggered by heavy shower washed away five houses of a village in Papumpare district of Arunachal Pradesh on July 11.

Onlookers informed that several others are trapped inside the debris. The incident took place at Laptap village in Toru circle, around 20 kms from Sagalee near Itanagar.

Although rescue teams from NDRF, SDRF and state police were sent to the spot, the team could not reach as the road connecting the village was blocked by several landslides. The local government officials and villagers are carrying out the rescue operations, last reports said.

Last week, massive landslides in and around Sagalee area left over 150 people trapped for 3 days. They were later rescued by the Indian Air Force. In the rescue operations, an IAF chopper was crashed leading to the death of four people.
