Leading e-commerce company Snapdeal has announced its partnership with Ketto, an online crowd funding platform, to raise money for the flood affected people in Assam and Manipur.  Aiming to raise Rs 5 lakhs through the campaign, the amount will go to Oxfam, an NGO that is on the ground providing critical relief to the people affected by the floods in the Northeast.

“Through this campaign people are requested to come forward and contribute by purchasing a product of their choice from the list of products selected by Oxfam. Oxfam in return will further distribute these products to the flood affected victims. Alternately consumers have the option of contributing towards the cause directly by going to the link on the website and clicking on the ‘Donate Now’ button,” the campaign note said.

“We urge people to come forward and contribute to this generous cause and help the flood affected victims and rebuild their livelihoods,” a Snapdeal spokesperson said.

The online campaign encourages people all over the world to come forward and extend their support. Last year, Ketto raised a total amount of Rs 15 lakhs for the flood affected people of Assam.

Commenting on the same, Varun Sheth CEO of Ketto said that, “We have been witnessing floods in Assam every year now. It is extremely sad and breaks our heart to see innocent people suffer. Therefore we try our best to raise maximum funds and support them in every possible way”.

The death toll in Assam floods climbed to 76 while more than 17 lakh people were affected in as many as 22 districts in the state. The current wave of floods has also badly affected animals and poultry in the affected districts.
