Inspiring a generation with his melodious voice, Assam singer Zubeen Garg yet again gave a reason to love him. The popular singer used his goodwill among the masses to generate awareness about the prevailing flood situation in several districts of Assam and volunteered for a donation drive in Guwahati on Monday, July 17, 2017.

Zubeen, with his fan club members along with Kalaguru Artiste Foundation, took out a rally-cum-donation drive in the Chandmari-Silpukhuri area of the city.

For the onlookers and especially the shopkeepers in the area, it was a Kodak-moment as the superstar went to their premises for flood donation.

“Zubeen da has been a true inspiration. He took the plunge himself. The floods needed such zealous drive…and he acted as the force-multiplier to this movement,” said Partha Deka, a resident of Bamunimaidam area in Guwahati.

“Thank you for your help and support. I request everyone to come forward and help the victims,” wrote fashion designer and Zubeen’s wife Garima Saikia Garg on Facebook.

As many as 66 people have died in 23 districts of Assam during the current floods. More than 17 lakh people were affected by the floods.

Not just Zubeen Garg and his fans, several NGOs, corporate houses, government organizations and citizens in their personal capacity and citizen groups launched collection and distribution drives of relief materials including water, food, cloth and medicine for the flood-affected people.
