With a view to reach out to the key stakeholders of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and boosting up its implementation in Assam, a team from ‘MyGov Assam’ visited Jaga LP school and Harijan Colony in the Uzan Bazar area of Guwahati recently.

The team inspected the living conditions of the ‘safai karmis’ of the area and discussed various issues related to health and hygiene, the working conditions and other problems of the Harijan people of the locality.

The team also discussed the importance of cleanliness for a healthy life and conducted drawing competition among the students of Jaga LP school in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

While Rajni Kumari, Bhumika Kumari, Pramod Kumar, Jagdish Nath and Suraj Kumar bagged winners’ prizes for their artwork, a special prize was also given to Taara Kumari for her extra ordinary performance.

Subsequently, the team also visited the Harijan Colony of Fatashil Ambari area where they interacted with ‘safai karmis’ and their families about cleanliness and took stock of the challenges faced by them.

‘MyGov Assam’ portal is an interactive platform aimed at engaging people in the development process through dialogue, discussion, deliberation and information dissemination facilitating two way communication. Though, it is an online medium, the ‘MyGov Assam’ team has initiated several programmes to reach out to the unreached and bringing their views and voices on board.
