“Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is a modern take on traditional dhaba concept. We have meticulously designed every aspect of this restaurant to suit the need of the urban crowd. We started our successful journey in Delhi and now have come to give the Guwahatians a taste of dhaba culture. Dhabas were originally created as stopovers for travelers in highways…but soon dhabas became the destination. Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is certainly the right mix of urban and desi as we offer the desi dhaba food with an urban twist,” said Tapan Sinha, COO, Zing Restaurants Pvt Ltd.

Besides the ambiance, which is designed to give the feel of a perfect dhaba – with milestones and tractors – the place boosts of ‘bhayankar’ dishes which are their signature offering for the foodies. Bhayankar Kadhi Chawal, Bhayankar Keema Kaleji, Malai Murg ke Chhakke, Ghantaghar Cream Chicken, Paneer ke Gulgule, Paneer Hathgola, Lacheelay Aloo and O Teri Paneer are some of the dishes that will surely make one go wow about the food. And to top it up, the Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba offers Bhayankar Meetha Paan or Mithaas – Billo Jitni, along with a host of other items, as the perfect dessert. There is also an interesting line of beverages like Banta Soda and Chatak Chuski which will bring in exciting memories of your childhood.

For the Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba in GS Road, Guwahati, the company has also added a Rang De Assam section to the menu which includes Aloo Pitika, Phool Gobhi Aru Konir Torkari, Baanhgajor Logot Kukura and Maasor Tenga, keeping in mind the local taste.

“The menu is curated to make foodies go bale-bale. Apart from focusing on serving an authentic cuisine, the presentation of food at Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is a speciality. To give you an example, the Sawa Footiya Subz Seekh is served on a scaled plate where you can actually count the length of the Seekh. In this case, its 1.25 feet,” said corporate chef Siddharth Joardar.

Rang de Basanti Urban Dhaba is a modern take on the traditional concept of dhabas. The kitchens are modern and hygienic. It’s still the traditional dhaba, but in a modern avatar. There’s a life-size tractor, tables done on tyres, milestones and tractors, buckets replacing light shades; and if you are happy with the lip-smacking food then “Baja Horn Nikal Phoran”!
