Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council organised a job fair for the beauty and wellness professionals in Guwahati on Tuesday. Trained and certified beauty professionals, hair stylists, makeup artists, yoga and fitness professional, nail technicians and spa therapists participated in the job fair. The job fair was inaugurated by members of the beauty and wellness industry of Northeast.

More than 15 employers from beauty and wellness industry participated in the job fair. Besides, employers from hospitality industry also participated in the job fair. “There is a huge demand of beauty professionals in the media and hospitality industry and this job fair will give them an opportunity to select the right candidate,” a statement said.

The full event had candidates from B&WSSC training partners and also walk-in candidates.

Speaking on the occasion chairperson Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council, Vandana Luthra said, “I am so happy to see the industry rally together to provide ample employment opportunities to the youth. The Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council aims to make this first of its kind job fair the right platform to match talent to demand. With the success of this event, we hope to increase the frequency of these fairs to help in placements of our pass-outs.”

Two banks – Axis Bank and Muthoot Micro finance – were also a part of the job fair to provide candidates the loans to start as entrepreneurs. The sector has huge opportunities for entrepreneurship and this will be the right platform to make the candidates aware of the available opportunities, a press statement stated.

The list of employers who participated at the fair includes VLCC, Lakme, Nail Spa, Iosis, Aroma Magic, Urban Clap, Nail Spa, Strands, etc. International cruise Liner Steiner also participated in the fair.

“Northeast region, being a potentially significant contributor in producing skill and trained personnel, can bridge the huge demand supply gap of trained in beauty & wellness domain. This recruitment event can prove to be a remarkable platform to make the right candidate reach the right employers and vice-versa,” the statement said.

B&WSSC is a not-for-profit promoted by CII with financial support from NSDC, under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreurship. The aim is to establish an effective and efficient eco-system for development and imparting of skills in beauty and wellness industry.
