World record holder mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa who is leading the Indian team said that it’s a great initiative to build better relationship between both the neighbouring countries in many aspects including tourism.

“It was a great experience to lead the team. Initiatives like this were meant to better the relationship between India and Bhutan. The people to people connectivity is always important for better relationship between the nations…,” said Jamsenpa.

She said though they were supposed to reach the culminating point on November 28 but due to several bandhs which they faced on their journey has delayed their journey.

“We hopefully will reach the destination in the next couple of days. The frequent road blockades and strikes have halted our journey. I think this is one of the reasons why our tourism industry suffers,” said Jamsenpa.

The other members in the team are Duyu Tamo, managing director of Duyu Tour and Travels, Juri Kalita, Taram, Tashi Tsomu, Biplab Jyoti Doley, Bitopan Kashyap, Priyanku Brush, Kimangshu Sharma and P Vashamo and Ravoalo Slam.

The Bhutan team is led by Karma Lhatrul Dorji Rinpoche. The team includes Jigme Wangchuk, Kinga, Sonam Dorji, Kuenzang Wangchuk, Khandu Om, Khandu and Nim Dem.
