Mismanagement of Air India authorities after an Air India flight had a narrow escape hitting a bird irked Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh along with other passengers at Lokapriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International airport on Friday.

A dejected Singh tweeted, “Air India management in the Guwahati airport is so poor and ineffective. Till now many passengers are inside the airport without food and accommodation. Only three AI staff were seen there. Extra flight also not possible until tomorrow afternoon as per AI authority”.

Earlier, the passengers had a narrow escape after a bird hit the flight at the time of descending which was on the way to Imphal from New Delhi via Guwahati.

“God is gracious enough our AI flight was hit by a flying bird and airplane landed safely in Guwahati today. The impact is so powerful that it could make a hole. It occurred when it descended and the wheel got unfolded. Thank God! Staying at Guwahati along with around 160 passengers,” Singh further said in another tweet.

Due to this, several other Air India flights were also cancelled leaving the people at the airport in crisis.

“Our flight got delayed for twice before cancelling it at the last moment. I have an emergency meeting to attend in New Delhi on Saturday. What to do now,” said a dejected passenger who was supposed to go to New Delhi on Friday evening.
