With an aim to reign over noise pollution, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi launched a campaign ‘No Horn Please’ at a function organised at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati on Monday.

The campaign, conceptualised by Byatikram – a social development organization, has been launched for 90 days which will be replicated throughout Guwahati. Speaking on the occasion, the governor hailed the campaign and said that the concept of the campaign is very nice which has the potential of reigning over city’s growing noise pollution.

In the face of no effective law for controlling noise pollution, the campaign would go a long way in tackling the menace of noise pollution. Mukhi also said that large-scale awareness among the public would act as a deterrent against noise pollution and said that the 90-day campaign has the potential of generating mass awareness against noise pollution.

“Our ears can bear noise upto a certain limit. Exceeding the maximum limit can lead to different diseases. To get a solution to this problem, we must reduce the sound produced around our surroundings,” Mukhi said.
