Menstrual health and hygiene is being talked about much openly these days, at least on the social media. Thanks to Akshay Kumar-starrer Bollywood movie Pad Man, the debate has gathered quite a steam.

On Thursday, one of Guwahati’s premiere cinema halls, Anuradha Cineplex, announced its tie-up with NGO NEEDS, to promote menstrual hygiene. The theatre said that it will distribute sanitary pads among the general public and also hosted a free screening of the film Pad Man on it’s release date.

Over the last few weeks, sanitary pads were trending, with various celebrities and general public taking the #PadManChallenge. The main idea behind the campaign was to promote the film, but with a social message that can’t be ignored.

“Anuradha Cineplex and NEEDS is jointly organizing a free distribution of sanitary napkins and free screening of the movie Pad Man on the release date to create mass awareness,” informed Meghna Sharma, CEO Anuradha Complex and Amardeep Paul, Founder NEEDS.
