Nomination papers of 227 candidates have been cleared after scrutiny for the February 27 Assembly elections in Nagaland.

Additional chief electoral officer N Moa Aier said that the scrutiny of nomination papers of a total of 257 candidates who filed their papers for the elections was held on Thursday at the respective offices of the returning officers, in which 227 candidates were found eligible.

Aier further informed that the nomination papers of 29 candidates were found invalid while scrutiny of one candidate from under 33-Suruhoto Assembly Constituency was adjourned to February 10.

The last day for withdrawal of nomination papers is on February 12 while polling for the 60 Nagaland Assembly constituencies will be held on February 27. Votes will be counted on March 3.
