The Assam government will soon come up with a detailed plan for digital media platforms. State minister for information and public relations, Ranjit Dutta, said that the department has proposed for amendments.

“For the digital media, which has been playing a vital role in the current news media in Assam, the department has prepared proposal for bringing amendments to the existing guidelines available for print and electronic media,” said Dutta in the ongoing assembly sessions while answering a question raised by Congress MLA Abdul Khaleque.

Dutta also said that once the amendments are done, these will be included in the provisions.

The online media platforms which have been active in the state and the region for the last several years has been requesting the government to treat them as any other print or electronic media.
