Passengers travelling from Naharlagun Railway Station in Arunachal Pradesh will now be able to use free WiFi service with the launch of the high-speed WiFi internet service.

Inaugurating the service, Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein said that the service is another step towards digital connectivity and contribute towards Digital India initiative.

Mein informed that under BharatNet project, executed by RailTel with the full support of Arunachal Pradesh government, most of the district, blocks, circles and gram panchayats in the state will be connected with high speed internet very soon. “This will enhance the services of e-governance, e-education, e-medical etc. for the betterment of people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Mein said. He assured to extend all possible support to the ongoing project work for development of infrastructure and betterment of the people of the state.

Mein further stated that with railway connectivity will be established to various parts of the state which includes Pasighat, Roing, Tezu, Parashuram Kund, Namsai, Aalo and Tawang.

With the operation of fixed wing aircrafts at Advanced Landing Grounds at Pasighat and Tezu, followed by ALGs at Ziro and Mechuka, there will be tremendous improvement in the connectivity in all sectors. Mein exuded hope that with these improvements in the connectivity, tourist flow will also increase in the state.
