With a view to get first hand exposure of farm practices in Vietnam, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is leading a team of 13 MLAs, officials and 15 farmers to a tour of the ASEAN country.

“The state government is taking up the exposure visit considering the seminaries in climate, topography and agriculture patterns of Vietnam and Assam and to replicate the same in the state agriculture sector,” a statement released by the chief minister’s office said on May 13.

As part of the exposure tour, the team will visit Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Science at Vinh Quynh Tri, Hanoi, Centre for Technology Development and Agriculture Extension and interact with officials on issues of mutual interest.

Sonowal will meet the deputy minister of agriculture and rural development Ha Cong Tuan, chairman of external relations commission Hoang Binh Quan and chairman of central economic commission Cao Due Phat and hold discussions with them. He will also take part in an investment road-show at Hanoi.

The delegation will visit Vineco Agriculture Investment Production and Development in Vinh Phuc and farming and processing zones at Khoai Chau district on May 15.
