Padma Shri Award winning doctor Sarbeswar Sahariah has vowed to help singer-activist Zublee Baruah in her mission to create awareness for organ donation. Zublee foundation run by Zublee Baruah will organize its 2nd edition of ‘Organothon’ – a run to create awareness on August 5.

The singer is also working to involve more people in the initiative.

“India is still lacking far behind in organ donation. Though the rate of road accidents is very high in India, people are still not much aware of the importance of organ donation. We must work together to bring a change,” said the highly decorated doctor.

Sahariah, however, said that states like Andhra Pradesh and Telengana among others are comparatively advanced in this regard.

Appreciating the efforts of Zublee, Sahariah said that he will extend any kind of help in making her efforts successful.

Sahariah who was born and brought up in Managaldai has also the distinction of performing the first Cadaver Renal Transplantation in Andhra Pradesh and has performed the first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in the country.

The Zublee foundation has also organized online poster and sculpture making competition and the winners will be felicitated on August 5 which also coincides with Friendship Day.

“We want to make an appeal to the people, institutions and organizations to come forward and participate to support the noble cause and also Zublee Foundation. I want more people to get associated in the programme so that the message reaches to the maximum people,” said Zublee.

On August 5, all the celebrities like Zubeen Garg, Joi Baruah and Zublee Baruah herself among others will take part in a concert.

They also plan to involve school students and parents to be a part of the movement.
