Mega Miss North East 2018 Winners

Mariam Longri from Kharsang in Arunachal Pradesh won the title of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2018 at the grand finale of the pageant held at ITA Cultural Complex, Machkhowa in Guwahati on June 30.

Mega Entertainment, the organizer of the largest beauty pageant in the region, announced the winner after several rounds of judging.

Mariam was crowned by Mega Miss North East 2017 Mary Khyriem at the gala event attended by around 1000 guests.

“I am overwhelmed today. I always wanted to be in a position where I can help, motivate and influence people to lead a beautiful life. Thank you Mega Entertainment and the panel of judges for believing in me,” said 17-year-old Mariam after winning the coveted crown. Mariam is a student at Donyi Polo School, Itanagar.

Tsurila from Chumukedima, Nagaland was adjudged the first runners up while Biswanath Chariali’s Jyotismita Baruah was the second runners up. Tsurila is a BA (economics) 5th semester student at Mt. Mary College, Chumukedima while Jyotismita is studying BSc (3rd semester) at B Borooah College, Guwahati.

Mega Entertainment conducted auditions across the Northeast for the 16th edition of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East, selecting 50 contestants. The selected contestants travelled to Guwahati for almost a week of activities which included grooming and training sessions conducted by Mega Entertainment, followed by rehearsals, leading up to the grand finale on June 30. The pageant, powered by Mega Entertainment founder Abhijit Singha, provides a platform to budding talents from the region.

The winner this year gets a prize package worth approximately Rs 7 lakhs, including the winning crown and sash of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2018, a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, opportunity to become the face of Sunsilk’s print and outdoor campaigns.

The prize package also includes a round trip to Dubai, an international destination photoshoot, fitness counselling and membership at Chisel Dighalipukhuri for a year, gift hamper from Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba, portfolio shoot by leading fashion photographer Rahul Biswas, public relations and reputation management for the reigning term from Life’s Purple and digital celebrity management from One & Zero – The Marketing Trend. Additionally, the winners will also get a scholarship for a 3-years bachelor’s degree course in media & entertainment at ITFT, Chandigarh and a 6-months aviation & hospitality course from TRIG Empowering Institute, Guwahati.
