A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old youth in Barpeta Road on June 30.
According to Barpeta Road police the accused Shyamal Barman (19) was working the shop of the victim’s father. “The boy works at the shop of victim’s farther. The minor girl was roaming around the shop. When the man saw that there was no one around the shop, he lured the girl inside the room by promising her chocolates and then sexually assaulted her,” police said.
The accused was caught red handed by the locals as the girl screamed for help. The locals handed him over to the Barpeta Road police. They demanded strict punishment for the accused.
“An FIR is registered against the man and further interrogation is going on,” said Barpeta Road Police Station officer-in-charge Abhijit Barauh.
