Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal talked to his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma over phone on August 4 and requested him to take urgent measures for ensuring smooth movement of people and vehicles of Assam passing through Meghalaya.

After the publication of the final draft of the NRC, some organizations in Meghalaya have started to stop and check documents of the people travelling from Assam via Meghalaya.

Sonowal during the talk informed the Meghalaya CM that the harassment caused to the people of Assam has also been brought to the notice of the union home minister Rajnath Singh and sought Sangma’s expeditious intervention.

The Meghalaya chief minister while taking cognizance of seriousness of the matter assured Sonowal to take all necessary measures in this regard.
