India’s track and field sensation and Assam’s pride, Hima Das was honoured by Royal Global University during its 2nd orientation programme for students on August 8.

Receiving a cheque of Rs 1 lakh on behalf of Hima, her parents Ronjit Das and Jonali Das reminisced how they would encourage her to run every morning and excel in it. A video clip showcasing the glorious victory of the 18-year-old brought tears to the eyes of the parents and the audience – comprising of students, faculty and staff members of RGU.

Das promised that whenever Hima is in Guwahati, she will definitely take out time to interact with the RGU students, who were so enthusiastically waiting to meet her. Das mentioned about Hima’s journey from Dhing in Nagaon to Finland and encouraged the students to follow their dreams and never give up in life. He also sought everyone’s prayers and blessings for Hima’s success in the future.

The 2nd orientation programme of RGU is under process from August 8-14. Director, IASST, Guwahati, NC Talukdar and principal secretary at higher education department, Assam, Maninder Singh addressed the students on the first day of the program. A dance recital on Ganesh Vandana and a Xatriya dance, performed by the students, added more vigour to the program.
