Giving a platform to budding debaters of the Northeast region, and initiating a discussion on caste-based reservation, Sonapur College is organizing the 2018 edition of Northeast India Inter College Debating Competition on November 3.

Principal and the chairman of the organizing committee Devabrot Khanikor said that the topic is ‘Competition, not caste reservation, can only uplift all sections of Indian society’.

The speaker of the house will be former Meghalaya governor Ranjit Sekhar Mooshahary. The winners will be given Sinam Uriba Singh Memorial cash prizes. There are five categories to win. The News Mill is a partner at the event.

Speaking to The News Mill, principal Devabrot Khanikor urged the colleges of the Northeast region to send a team comprising of two debaters. “Like last years, we are expecting good debaters to take part in the 2018 edition. The participants must send their entries before October 24 to [email protected],” he said.
