Traffic rules violators in Guwahati were caught surprised on Tuesday when popular Assam actress Aimee Baruah, accompanied by Guwahati Traffic Police, issued on-spot ‘bookings’ near Ganeshguri flyover.

Radio Mirchi 95 FM, Guwahati, organized ‘Mirchi Challan’ at Ganeshguri on November 20 to help the traffic police to ‘book’ traffic violators. Along with the challan, the traffic violators were crowed with a ‘mukut’. Popular Assam actress Aimee Baruah accompanied by the Radio Mirchi RJs and traffic police were seen cutting Mirchi Challans to the traffic violators.

“The prime objective of this activity is to sensitize the people of Guwahati about traffic rules and to make them realize how important it is to obey the rules so as to ensure smooth traffic movement within the city,” a statement released by the FM channel said.

“As one of the utilities for our listeners, we give traffic updates to our listeners every day from 8am till 8pm. Thus, this activity is just an extension of our service to the people living in Guwahati by making them more aware about traffic rules and regulations,” the statement added.

As part of the initiative, Radio Mirchi RJs will visit one particular location in Guwahati each day till November 23, accompanied by a celebrity, and catch hold of traffic violators and issue them a ‘Mirchi Challan’. “The challan contains a message. The attempt is to make them realize their mistake and ensure that they won’t repeat the same,” the FM channel said.
