The 6th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2018 concluded on December 1.

Many renowned filmmakers and film personalities from across India attended the festival which was organized by Tattva Creations at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Guwahati from November 28.

Speaking about the 6th edition of the festival, festival director and managing director at Tattva Creations, Tanushree Hazarika, said that the responsibility has been ever increasing. “BVFF has reached its 6th edition this year and it makes me extremely overwhelmed that we could reach till here. Now every year the responsibility as an organising team has increased, as the festival has created a benchmark in itself. So we work hard to match the standards that we have set for ourselves,” she said.

The major attraction for the last day was the BVFF short film contest 2018 results. The first prize was bagged by ‘Survivors 3pm’ by Sourav Das and Siddhant Ghosh while the second prize went to ‘The Man who speaks Nature’ by Dhritiman Kakati. The third prize winner was ‘Leikashi’ by Irel Luwang. The winners were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, along with trophies and certificates.

The last day of the festival culminated with Anupam Kaushik Borah’s Assamese film Bornodi Bhotiai. Other movies screened during the day were Endharor Bheta Bhangi (Breaking the Cocoon), Do Cup Chai, Adi- At The Confluence and The Lost Idea, IYE: The Others.

A panel discussion was also organized during the day where noted film personalities Bhaskar Hazarika, Debesh Chatterjee and Kenny Basumatary participated.

Filmmaker Pulak Gogoi was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award by Boman Irani this year at the festival. “I am very happy and overwhelmed that they have given me this recognition in the film fest. I am an 80 year old man and we as artists are and should forever be surrounded by creative environment. Getting this recognition at this age encourages me to do even more and not think the sky to be the limit,” said Pulak Gogoi.
