Assam cricketer Riyan Parag was picked by Rajasthan Royals at the Indian Premier League auctions on December 18. The Guwahati cricketer will play his first IPL for the Rajasthan franchise in the 2019 edition of the premier T20 league.

Rajasthan Royals picked Riyan Parag at his base price of Rs 20 Lakh as no other teams showed interest in bidding for the young all-rounder.

Royals pick up three players in the third and final round with Riyan Parag being one from the lot which included Manan Vohra for Rs 20 Lakh and Ashton Turner for Rs 50 lakh.

Riyan is a hard-hitting batsman and a spin bowler who played for India at the ICC U-19 World Cup. He made his first-class debut for Assam in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy.

The Rajasthan Royals made their first purchase in the IPL auction for the 2019 season by getting pacer Jaydev Unadkat for Rs 8.4 crore. Unadkat, who was the most expensive Indian player at the auction last year (Rs 11.5 crore), was released by the Royals before the auction after a mediocre show last season. The team also bought pacer Varun Aaron for Rs 2.4 crore.
