Award winning Assamese film ‘Xhoihobote Dhemalite’ (Rainbow Fields) directed by national award winning filmmaker Bidyut Kotoky is getting re-released in theatres in Assam on February 8.
It’s one of the rare occasions in Assam when a film is getting re-released. The film, based on true events, narrates the psychological trauma children went through during the period of agitation in the 1980s in Assam. The film features legendary actor Victor Banerjee in a key role. Supermodel Dipannita Sharma has made her debut in Assamese movies with this film. Besides, the film also features seasoned actors like Nakul Vaid, Naved Aslam and Nipon Goswami.
“It’s always great thing to happen for a filmmaker when more people watch the film. After getting screened and appreciated worldwide, it makes me extremely happy to release the film here in Assam, where its actual roots are. It’s like a child that has taken a tour across the world and now finally come home. I request everyone to watch the film and give an honest feedback on it,” Bidyut Kotoky, director of the film said on Friday after releasing the poster of the film.
The film was released in Assam in early 2018 besides getting released in the US commercially.
In 2017, the film was premiered at the prestigious Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. It has won the ‘Best Foreign Film Award’ in the Hollywood International CineFest. It has won three awards – best film, best actress for Dipannita Sharma and best music for Anurag Saikia in the 3rd Love International Film Festival held in Los Angles, US.
“It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of the film. As a part of Assamese film fraternity, it makes me proud that our films are being acclaimed worldwide. However, our audience here needs to appreciate the films as well and only then we shall consider ourselves successful. I request everyone to watch the film and give it the love and support that it deserves,” said veteran actor Nipon Goswami.
