Prime Minister Narendra Modi is welcomed by black flags in Guwahati on Friday. Modi who arrived here on Friday afternoon for a two-day tour, was first greeted at Jalukbari by the students of Gauhati University on his way to Raj Bhawan.

He faced the fury of the people because of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill which has witnessed much opposition in Assam and northeast region.

On the way from Guwahati airport to the Raj Bhawan which is around 25 kilometre distance, Modi faced the black flags at several places.

All Assam Students Union (AASU), the influential students’ body which is spearheading the movement against the bill also raised black flags as the PM convoy passed by the in front of the students’ body’s office.

“This is a strong message to the Prime Minister. We expressed our anger and displeasure. We will continue this till the bill is scrapped,” said AASU Chief Advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya.
