Assam cricketer Riyan Parag made his debut at the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday for the Rajasthan Royals against Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur.
Put into bat by Chennai, the Ajinkya Rahane-led Royals scored 151/7 in their 20 overs. Ben Stokes (28 off 26), Riyan Parag (16 off 14), Jofra Archer (13* off 12) and Gopal then chipped in with valuable contributions to help Rajastha post a somewhat respectable total. Shreyas Gopal’s quickfire seven-ball 19* down the order that helped the hosts cross the 150-run mark.
Riyan Parag impressed during his short stay at the crease as he came to bat after the fall of Steve Smith. Parag batted with Ben Stokes as they tried to rebuild the Rajasthan innings.
Later, Riyan bowled 3 overs giving away 24 runs in his maiden outing at the IPL.
Despite some umpiring flaws, Chennai Super Kings held their nerves to clinch a nail-biting thriller against Rajasthan Royals as Mitchell Santner’s last ball six sealed another win for the defending champions on Thursday.
