An important bridge connecting the Lower Dibang Valley and East Siang districts in eastern Arunachal Pradesh is nearing completion after over a decade, much to the relief of the people.
The bridge over Sisar river near Dambuk will connect Pasighat with eastern towns like Roing, Tezu and Namsai without having to go through Assam. The bridge will be operational from August and will help people travel between the eastern and central part of Arunachal Pradesh easily.
On Saturday, Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng inspected the ongoing works at the Sisar bridge and said that it will be operational from August this year. “I am extremely delighted to give this good news to the people of Lower Dibang Valley and East Siang. Today, I visited the Sisar bridge along with Dambuk ADC Rujjum Rakshap and other officials to inspect the on-going work and I was briefed that the Sisar bridge connecting Dambuk with East Siang district is almost completed,” Tayeng said.
“This much awaited bridge will be operational August onwards. For years people from across both sides of the bridge have been eagerly waiting for the completion of this bridge but not anymore. I hope this new development will bring us closer to prosperity, harmony and more development. This is just the beginning for the trust you have entrusted on our government,” Tayeng further added.
In December 2017, Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein had inspected the bridge construction sites at Sisar from Aohali village along the National Highway 52, which is a part of the Trans-Arunachal Highway. Mein had asked the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited’s general manager to expedite the work.
The bridge, after its completion, will be a huge respite for people of eastern and western Arunachal as residents face communication bottleneck during the monsoon every year.
