The third batch of Kailash-Mansarover bound pilgrims left Gangtok June 28 last and are enroute Kailash-Mansarovar located in the Tibet Autonomous Region(TAR) in China. The pilgrims are adapting to cold climate, halting at 15th mile acclimatization centre presently, and will be leaving for Sherathang on July 1.
“A total of 30 travellers left for acclimatization centre at the 15th mile on June 28 morning. The present Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra group consist of 21male and 9 females,” said Anit Kapil Chettri ,Deputy General Manager,Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation(STDC).
However, a lady in the first batch fell down from the pony she was riding while circumabulating the holy Mount Kailash. The pilgrim from Delhi suffered shoulder injury and was sent back and has proceeded to her home town. She had to return three days earlier from the scheduled return date for her batch on July 1 next. The officers of STDC from Gangtok had gone to receive her at the Nathula border.
While 44 Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrims from Telengana, who had taken the Nepal route, reportedly got stranded , on their way back, for more than four days in Hilsa in Nepal, the second batch of pilgrims via Nathula have been safely travelling to their destination escorted by Chinese officers.
