Technical snag hits ONGC recruitment process in Assam – The News Mill

A recruitment examination for non-executive posts in ONGC at several exam centres in Assam had to be cancelled on June 15 due to massive technical difficulties.

Computer Based Test (CBT) for 308 posts in Assam was scheduled in 12 centres in six cities of the state from June 14 to 19.

Due to technical difficulties, CBT could not be conducted smoothly on June 15 in at least two centres at Guwahati and one at Jorhat.

The candidates took to the streets in Guwahati and protested the inability of the ONGC to conduct the examination properly.

Expressing regret, ONGC in a press release on June 15 said that it is taking all possible measures to ensure smooth conduct of the examination and decision has been taken to reimburse travelling allowance for those appearing in CBT on the re-scheduled date who could not appear on June 15. “The re-scheduled date, time and venue will be communicated later,” the release said.

The CBT is the maiden initiative of the company in Assam as it strives to contribute to Digital India and reduce carbon footprint by adopting paperless initiatives. “This will also ensure transparency and minimize manual intervention,” the company said.

The company got a record number of applications for the posts. Considering the number of applicants, the CBT was being held at 12 centres in 6 cities of Assam – Sivasagar, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Guwahati and Silchar.
