Arunachal Pradesh Assembly passes five bills

As many as five important government bills, including the one which seeks to prohibit violence against medical services personnel and damages to medical institutions, were passed by Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on July 9 by voice vote following a brief discussion.

The five bills were: the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Service Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Bill, 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council Bill, 2019 and the Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Medical Service Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of Property) Bill, 2019.

The Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019, introduced by Home Minister Bamang Felix on first day of the three-day House session on Monday, seeks to amend the AP Lokayukta Act, 2014 (Act No. 7 of 2014).

The Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Service Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which was tabled by CM , who is also the Minister in-charge of Tax and Excise, seeks to amend the AP Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 (Act No. 7 of 2017).

Introduced by minister of town planning and urban local bodies, Kamlung Mosang, the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Bill, 2019 provides for making a legal framework and putting a legal mechanism in place for establishment and constitution of municipal corporation in the state.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council Bill, 2019, which was introduced by education minister Taba Tedir, provides for setting up of AP state higher education council functional, while the AP Protection of Medical Service Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of Property) Bill, 2019, introduced by health and family welfare minister Alo Libang, seeks to prevent violence against doctors and other medical staff and damages to properties of medical institutions.
