The Indian army busted a hideout of NSCN (IM) in Manipur after the militants of the Naga insurgent group were found extorting from local people from a village.

According to reports, based on intelligence inputs about some NSCN (IM) militants camping at Kekru village and carrying out illegal extortion in the Nungba area, the army troops had launched operation in the area on Saturday night.

Realising the army troops advancing towards their camp, the militants had managed to flee from the area leaving huge cache of arms and ammunition.

NSCN (IM), the largest insurgent group in the Northeast region, has a ceasefire with the Union government.

A top official of Indian army said that the Naga insurgent group has set up several camps in Manipur along Manipur-Nagaland border areas and conducting illegal extortion activities.
