Uttarakhand pledges Rs 5 crore for Assam floods relief

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat talked to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal over the phone on July 26 and took stock of the prevailing flood situation in the state.

The Uttarakhand chief minister expressed empathy for the flood-affected people and appreciated the Assam government’s relief and rescue operations.

During the interaction, Rawat said his government would extend all support to the Assam government to mitigate the devastation caused by flood in the state.  He also informed Sonowal that the Uttarakhand government would contribute Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to boost relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures of the state government.

Sonowal, responding to the goodwill gesture, conveyed his gratitude to the Uttarakhand chief minister and his government on behalf of the people of Assam.
