Newly elected legislator from Khonsa West Assembly constituency, Chakat Aboh on October 28 took oath as a member of the Seventh Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh.

Aboh, wife of former MLA Tirong Aboh, was administered the oath of affirmation by assembly speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona in a brief ceremony at DK auditorium of Assembly secretariat here this morning, in presence of few MLAs including Wanglin Lowangdong Jand scores of her supporters.

Aboh, who contested as an Independent candidate with the backing of five political parties including ruling BJP and Opposition Congress in the recently concluded Khonsa West by-election, trounced her lone rival Independent candidate Azet Homtok by a margin of 1887 votes.

The by-election to the said Assembly segment was necessitated following the assassination of Tirong Aboh, who contested on a National People’s Party (NPP) ticket won the April 2019 Assembly election, by suspected NSCN militants in Tirap district of the state, two days ahead of poll results.
