Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday said that his government want to continue with the “Supporting Human Capital Development Project in Meghalaya” funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) to improve the education sector in the state.

Sangma said this after inaugurating a new building of Wadanang Secondary School, Tura which was constructed under the project funded by ADB.

The project focuses on improvement of secondary education, infrastructure and skill development.

Under this project, many government-aided secondary and higher secondary schools in the state are being upgraded with the kind of infrastructure to improve the overall learning environment for the students. The project till now has been implemented in around 14 schools in the region.

Terming the project as a blessing for the students, for the people of Wadanang locality as well as Garo Hills and Meghalaya as a whole, Sangma said this is the appropriate time to thank all those people who were instrumental in bringing the project including the ministers of the previous government, former Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Zenith Sangma and former legislator, Noverfield R Marak, the present government and all the officers concerned for completing the project successfully.

Sangma informed that the present government is keen to take this project further and said that Phase II of the ADB project is underway which would further improve the necessary requirements of various schools of the region.
