At least two people were killed and several others were injured when a speeding truck ran over a Kali puja immersion procession in Silchar on October 30 night.
The incident took place at Meherpur area in Silchar.
According to reports, the truck was coming from Aizawl side while the procession was moving from the opposite direction.
The truck lost its control and ran over the procession.
Two people were killed on the spot and many others were injured in the incident.
Following the incident, angry people set the truck ablaze and blocked the road. The injured persons were rushed to Silchar Medical College hospital.
The deceased were identified as Pompa Dey and Saloni Das.
