The next 2-3 matches for each of the teams playing at the Indian Super League will be very crucial, feels NorthEast United FC head coach Robert Jarni.

Speaking to the media before their next match against ATK, Jarni said that the points table will look very different after the next few games as the teams will try to take initiatives. “I have told my boys that the next 2-3 games will be very crucial for us. The standings table will be clearer then,” he said.

NorthEast United will look to carry on their momentum and the unbeaten run as they take on ATK at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on December 7. The Highlanders are confident that they can overcome the might of the ATK. “Tomorrow we play one of the best teams here. We just played Jamshedpur FC, probably the best team at the ISL. For me ATK and Jamshedpur are two of the top teams in the completion. ATK is very dangerous team…but we are confident. We played some very good games against the likes of Bengaluru FC and FC Goa. We have the potential,” the head coach said.

Speaking about the club’s unbeaten run at the ISL this season, defender Reagan Singh said that the club is upbeat about their performance. “Everyone is playing well and giving 100 per cent for the team. So the mood in the dressing room is good. Personally I am happy with my performance and growth. I hope we will be playing the playoffs this season as well and in fact take it a notch further by playing the finals,” he said.

Speaking on defender Kai Heerings’s availability (after the two-match suspension) for the match against ATK, head coach Jarni said that this will boost the defence of the team. “This is so good for us. With the long ball he has, it will be very important for us,” he said.

NorthEast United is placed 4th the table with 10 points from 6 matches while ATK is at 2nd position with 11 points from as many games. A win for either of the side will take them to the top of the table by replacing Bengaluru FC who has 13 points from 7 games.
