Placement offers zoom at IIT-G campus recruitment

More than 300 placement offers have been made in the first two days of the first phase of campus recruitment for 2019-20 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, (IIT-G).

The phase one recruitment, which commenced on December 1, will continue till December 15, with 250 companies registered so far, compared to 200 companies for the whole of last year (2018-19).

A total of 1060 students have registered for placements across departments this year. The Institute has received offers from companies like Microsoft (19 offers), Uber, Goldman Sachs (9 offers), JPMC (9 offers), IBM, Nutanix, American Express, Quadeye, Oracle (14 offers), Bajaj and Google among others.

These offers are for SDE, Analyst, Systems Engineer, Product Engineer, Analog/Digital Engineer and Engineer Trainee job profiles. The Institute also received a total of 20 international offers from companies like Microsoft, Uber, Accenture Japan, SOU Japan and BNY Melon USA.

Speaking about placements, Rakhesh Singh Kshetrimayum, Head, Career Development Centre, IIT Guwahati, said, “Besides domestic offers, we have several international offers this time. The number of international offers has already surpassed double the last year’s total in Day 2 itself”.

Speaking about the trend, TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “The number of offers on Day 2 is a clear indicator of the growing perception about the quality of students and Institute. We are witnessing offers for profiles such as IT/Software, Finance, Analyst, Management, Core Electronics and Design. This depicts present industry trends”.
