Several trains have been diverted, partially cancelled or cancelled in Tinsukia – Namrup – Simaluguri mainline section in eastern Assam due to derailment of a goods laden train on December 8 morning.

“Due to the derailment of a goods laden train at about 6.40 am today (December 8) between Naharkatiya and Duliajan station under Tinsukia division of NF Railway running of trains over the Tinsukia – Namrup – Simaluguri mainline (single line) section is blocked,” a Northern Frontier Railway (NFR) statement said.

As a result of this derailment, several trains have either been diverted via Simaluguri – Sibsagar Town – Dibrugarh section or partially cancelled/cancelled.

Accident relief trains with crane have already reached the site from Tinsukia. Another relief train from Lumding will also reach the site shortly to start track clearance work, the statement said on December 8.

Senior railway officials from Tinsukia division are already at site monitoring work, the statement added.
