A combined team of police, NAB, NCB, Forest and Coffee Board personnel on January 8 destroyed 105 acres of poppy plantations in two different places of Senapati district in Manipur.

Police said 25 acres of poppy plantations were destroyed at Saddim area by the combined team. Another team destroyed 80 acres of plantation at Sankhumai area.

Manipur government has taken up a major initiative to stop poppy plantation and
provide alternative form of livelihood to the villagers.
